Kindergarten is coming.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
…and all the feelings with it ❤️
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
As someone who has been there (as both a teacher and a parent), the first days of kindergarten are something special. We know it. Kids know it. It just hits differently.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
What’s also amazing is how much help we can give our kids on navigating these first days of school even though we’ll be on the sidelines 😉
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
So much of the first days are about helping the child find their independence at school. Whether that child has been in daycare their whole life, did preschool last year, or has been at home: kindergarten is a big step up.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Kids being comfortable at school, having skills to navigate their belongings, and having confidence in their abilities break down a lot of potential barriers to learning in kindergarten. We want to help our kids soar.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Yes, teachers are there to help too. And we love to help – But remember there are sometimes 20+ kids in the room. Waiting for a coat to be zipped or a lunch box to be opened can take time.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Instead, take the time today to practice these skills before kindergarten. They may seem so simple, but they make a big difference come that big first day.
