When we’re having a really bad day, we ALL deserve:
✨A hug
✨Understanding
✨A pass to just feel however you feel! Even if it may seem overblown or ridiculous
✨To be seen
✨Some extra love in that tough moment
Our toddler’s brains are super under construction. That’s why we see them scream, yell, flail on the ground over every tiny thing.
The FEELINGS are OK. Mad, sad, angry, frustrated–these feelings are allllll part of being human.
So, in the moment, we empathize with the feeling, we set boundaries:
✨”You’re feeling so sad that iPad time is all done. It’s hard to turn off the iPad, I get it! And we’re all done with the iPad today. We’ll watch more tomorrow.✨
Then, later, during a CALM moment, we actively *teach* better behavior, coping skills (like the ability to self regulate or calm down), and what to do next time.
